The governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open-Salawu, on Tuesday, continued their statewide Thank You Tour with stops in Egbeda and Ona Ara Local Government Areas, where they reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and welcomed defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The event attracted party leaders, members, supporters and other stakeholders from the two local government areas, who gathered to express support for the APM ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Addressing the gathering, Adekanmbi expressed appreciation to party faithful for their confidence in the APM leadership, assuring them that their support would be rewarded with purposeful, people-centred and inclusive governance.

He said the party remained committed to sustaining development, improving residents’ welfare, ts and building on the progress recorded in Oyo State.

The APM governorship candidate also expressed relief over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the development as an answer to the prayers of families, residents and other Nigerians.

While celebrating the rescue, he paid tribute to the teachers who lost their lives during the incident, praying for the repose of their souls and asking God to grant their families the strength to bear the loss.

The tour also featured the formal reception of several defectors from the APC and ADC into the APM in Egbeda and Ona Ara.

Welcoming the new members, Adekanmbi described their decision to join the party as evidence of the growing acceptance of the APM’s vision for Oyo State.

He urged both existing and new members to remain united, disciplined and committed to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that unity and collective effort would be critical to the party’s electoral success.

The event was attended by APM candidates for various elective positions in Egbeda and Ona Ara, local government party chairmen, executives, appointees, ward leaders, women and youth leaders, as well as other party stakeholders.

In separate remarks, party leaders commended Adekanmbi and Open-Salawu for what they described as their humility, accessibility and leadership qualities, pledging to mobilise support across the two local government areas to secure victory for the APM in the 2027 elections.
