It is with profound sadness that I mourn the passing of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, fondly known as ‘Ijaya,’ who departed this world on January 15, 2025, at the age of 59.

Hon. Onanuga was a distinguished Nigerian politician and entrepreneur who served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, representing the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

Her unwavering commitment to community development was evident through numerous initiatives, including the facilitation of road constructions that transformed local areas. Notably, in the the estate where my in-laws reside, she built her residence and spearheaded infrastructure projects that earned the area the most beautiful Estate .’

During last year Ramadan (fasting period) that met me during a farm project that I was handling at Sagamu, Hon. Ijaya’s once again exhibited the philanthropic part of her, as she sponsored my iftar for 20 consecutive days, exemplifying her dedication to the well-being of others.

Beyond her political achievements, Hon. Onanuga was a compassionate leader whose legacy of service and philanthropy will continue to inspire us. Her departure is a monumental loss to Ewuga Community , Sagamu, Remo in general ,Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

I extend my deepest condolences to her family especially her aged Grandmother, friends, and constituents during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace.
