The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government and candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Oluyole Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, alongside the party’s Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Amb. Olufemi Ajadi, on Saturday commenced a ward-to-ward tour across the ten wards of the local government area.

The tour, which began in Ward 7, saw the duo inspect the ongoing Taska–Olugbemi Road project, a critical infrastructure initiative designed towards improving connectivity and enhancing socio-economic activities within various grassroots communities.

The exercise was officially flagged off on Saturday during the APM Ward 7 meeting held at Olomi Community Primary School 1, Olomi, where party leaders, members, stakeholders, and residents gathered to receive the delegation and review ongoing developmental efforts in the area.

Speaking during the event, Olatunji described the ward tour as an appreciation and thank-you visit to residents and party faithful across Oluyole Local Government for their steady and unrelenting support, cooperation, and commitment to grassroots development.

According to him, the initiative is also designed to provide an opportunity for direct engagement with the people, assess the impact of ongoing projects, identify pressing community needs, and strengthen the relationship between elected representatives and constituents ahead of future political engagements.

The council chairman noted that Ward 7 was deliberately chosen as the starting point of the exercise, not only because it holds strategic importance within the local government but also because it is his home ward.

“As the saying goes, charity begins at home. Ward 7 is my constituency of origin, and it is only fitting that we commence this appreciation and inspection tour from here.

“This tour is about gratitude, accountability, and renewed commitment to the welfare of our people,” he said.

Olatunji stated that the ward tour is expected to continue in the remaining nine wards of Oluyole Local Government in the coming days, which he said will provide an avenue for further interaction with community leaders, party stakeholders, and residents.

He expressed optimism that the exercise will further strengthen the grassroots presence of the APM in Oluyole as the party intensifies consultations and mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

Residents and party members who attended the meeting commended the leadership of Olatunji for sustaining strong connection with the grassroots and championing developmental projects across the local government, particularly in the areas of road infrastructure, community development, and mass mobilization.

Also speaking during the tour, Amb. Ajadi reiterated the commitment of the APM to people-oriented governance, stressing that continuous engagement with the grassroots remains critical to understanding the aspirations of the electorate and delivering meaningful representation.

He noted that such tour geared towards grassroots engagement was one of the legacies of governor Seyi Makinde in his pre budget tour of the entire state to engage directly with the people in order to have a firsthand understanding of their needs and priorities.

He urged party members to remain united and focused as preparations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, while emphasizing that the party would continue to prioritize development, inclusiveness, and responsive leadership.

The inspection of the Taska–Olugbemi Road formed one of the major key point of the day’s activities, with both leaders expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded on the project while assuring of palliatives on other pending infrastructural initiatives.

The two leaders reaffirmed their determination to support initiatives that improve the quality of life of residents, especially at the grassroots.

Also in the high powered delegation were the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, immediate past LG chairman, Hon. Olaide Settle, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, former Oluyole House of Assembly menber, Hon. Lukman Salawu; ex Council Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Abore, Special Assistant to the Governor on Oluyole fedral constituency, Hon. Olumide Okelawa; Hon. Akin Ajao, and other party stakeholders In Oluyole, as well as ward chairmen, supervisory councillors, and others.
