A girl of two(02) years of age has been recovered from a deep well by the firefighters in the Saki areas of Oyo State.

The dramatic rescue operation was carried out by the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Saki area Command. The incidents occurred at Orita Mokola Junction, Seedu Sabarumu, Sango, and Saki.

Heritage Echo gathered that the victim has been handed over to the policemen, Saki Command.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident in our correspondence

According to him, “the emergency call was reported at Saki Fire Station at exactly 13:43hrs by the running caller and Mr. Adewole to someone who had fallen into a well at the above address.

“The Agency’s Officers, led by PFS11 Saka, quickly left for the scene of the incident.

“On arrival, we were informed that a girl of two years of age was inside the well for a long time.

“We swiftly engaged our rescue equipment and CFM Adediran Jacob entered the well for searching and rescuing operations.

Akinwande further affirmed that the girl was recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by CSP Odunbanjo Kehinde for further necessary action.

The cause of the incident was unknown, and the fire service’s Post Incident Investigation Team (PIIT) is carrying out a necessary investigation to determine the root cause of the unfortunate incident.

However, the SA on Fire Services Agency Reform/Chairman urges the public to take all safety measures in protecting their wells and septic pits from public accessibility to avoid becoming a death trap.
