A foremost Bashorun researcher, author and public intellectual, Bashorun Saintabey, is set to host the second edition of his annual colloquium in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Bashorun Saintabey, whose work examines the intersection of governance, values and community development in the African context, with a voice rooted in history yet focused on the future, instituted the annual colloquium to promote critical thinking, dialogue and collaboration in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

The 2026 edition is themed: Rebuilding Nigeria: Leadership, Good Governance and Sustainable National Development.

According to the organisers, this year’s colloquium will bring together scholars, policy makers, students and members of the public to interrogate the leadership question and chart pathways for sustainable national development.

The keynote address will be delivered by renowned scholar and diplomat, Dr. Amb. Kunle Awotiku.

Panelists expected at the event include Comrade Deji Ola, Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde; Faysol Oluwakemi (AMPMA, CIMP UK), Youth and Grassroots Development Advocate; and Mr. Henry Odeh, a seasoned journalist and public affairs analyst.

The Special Guest of Honour is Arc. Olawale Mogbonjubola, the Honourable Commissioner for Public Works and Transport in Oyo State.

The organisers disclosed that this year’s edition will hold on Thursday, 5th November, 2026 at the Assembly Hall, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, by 10:00 am prompt.

The colloquium is part of Bashorun Saintabey’s sustained efforts to promote critical thinking and provide a platform for robust engagement on issues of governance and nation building.

Members of the public, particularly students, researchers and young professionals, are expected to grace the event.
