The Oyo State Chapter of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN), under the leadership of Hon. Akano Olanrewaju D-Light, has dissociated itself from reports circulating across news platforms and social media allegedly linking elements of the South-West Kwankwasiyya movement with support for the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the gubernatorial ambition of Barrister Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in Oyo State.
In a statement issued by the Oyo State leadership, the organisation said it neither authorised nor endorsed any publication or statement purportedly presenting a contrary political position on behalf of the chapter.
The chapter urged members, supporters and the general public to exercise caution over unverified reports and statements attributed to KNN or the wider Kwankwasiya movement without confirmation from its recognised leadership.
KNN Oyo Reaffirms Commitment to Kwankwaso
The Oyo KNN leadership reaffirmed its recognition of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the national leader associated with the Kwankwasiya political movement and said the chapter remained committed to the political direction communicated through the movement’s recognised leadership structures.
The chapter also acknowledged the reported political alliance involving Senator Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, stating that members who subscribe to the platform would continue to identify with the movement and participate in its activities beyond the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the chapter’s political position is based on the convictions of its members and its organisational principles, rather than rumours, inducements or political speculation.

Grassroots Mobilisation Continues
The Oyo State chapter said it had continued to strengthen its grassroots structures across the state through engagement with members, supporters and stakeholders.
It listed its ongoing activities to include strengthening structures at ward and local government levels, encouraging lawful participation in the democratic process, promoting peaceful political engagement, improving communication between grassroots structures and the state leadership, monitoring relevant political developments and encouraging eligible citizens to obtain the necessary electoral documentation.
The organisation said it would also continue to coordinate its supporters across the various local government areas of the state while ensuring that its activities remain within the framework of Nigeria’s electoral laws and regulations.
Chapter Sets 20,000 Supporters Mobilisation Target
As part of its internal mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the Oyo KNN chapter said it had set an organisational target of mobilising at least 20,000 supporters or votes for the political platform it supports.
The chapter, however, clarified that the figure represents an organisational aspiration and does not imply control over individual voters or communities.
It stressed that every eligible Nigerian retains the constitutional right to make an independent electoral choice, adding that its mobilisation strategy would focus on lawful grassroots engagement, voter education, internal coordination and peaceful political participation.
Calls for Caution Over Unverified Reports
The chapter called on members of KNN, supporters of the Kwankwasiya movement and the general public to disregard publications that are not authorised by the recognised leadership and which, according to the statement, could create confusion about the organisation’s position.
It advised members who require clarification on the official position of the chapter to seek information directly from its recognised leadership rather than relying on social-media posts or unofficial statements.
The Oyo KNN leadership further appealed to political actors and supporters across Oyo State and the South-West to maintain peaceful political engagement and avoid statements or actions capable of heightening political tension.
“KNN South-West is not for sale,” the chapter declared, reaffirming that its political engagement is guided by conviction, organisational principles and the decisions of its recognised leadership.
The chapter said it remained committed to democratic participation, peaceful political engagement and the continued development of its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
