The momentum behind the 2027 governorship ambition of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, received a significant boost as youth leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across all 33 local government areas, 351 wards, and the three senatorial districts of the state unanimously endorsed his bid.

The meeting held at Tafo Arena, Ijokodo Ibadan was in continuation of the Speaker’s consultation and engagement with stakeholders of the PDP in Oyo State.

Addressing the gathering, Ogundoyin described young people as the most critical constituency in nation-building, emphasizing that any meaningful development agenda must place them at the center.

He reaffirmed his belief in his preparedness for higher responsibility, pointing to the opportunities he has been given under the current administration and how he has maximized them in service to both the party and the state.

“I am convinced that I stand in a strong position as the best aspirant, particularly when you consider the exposure and responsibilities entrusted to me by Governor Seyi Makinde at both the state and national levels, and the manner in which I have delivered on those assignments,” he said.

He further assured that his prospective administration would be deliberately inclusive, with youths playing active roles across all tiers of governance.

According to him, the future of Oyo State depends largely on how well the energy, creativity, and dynamism of its young population are harnessed.

“The youths are not just participants in the process; they are central to the future we seek to build. They will be fully integrated into governance at all levels,” Ogundoyin added.

Formally declaring his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, the Speaker reiterated his loyalty to the leadership of the party and the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, stressing the importance of unity and continuity within the PDP.

“Wherever the governor leads, that is where we all stand. In that spirit of unity and shared vision, I hereby officially declare my ambition to run for the governorship of Oyo State in 2027,” he stated.

Speaking at meeting, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hajia Wasilat Adegoke commended the Speaker for prioritizing youth inclusion, noting that his engagement reflects a genuine commitment to empowering young people across Oyo State.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale described the consultation as timely and strategic, emphasizing that the Speaker’s approach aligns with the aspirations of the state’s vibrant youth population.

Hon. Kazeem Olamilekan Bello, PDP Youth Leader in Oyo State, expressed strong support for the Speaker, stating that the youth wing of the party is ready to mobilize behind a leader who has consistently demonstrated accessibility and capacity.

The youth leaders, drawn from every stratum of the party’s structure, expressed confidence in Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin’s leadership capacity, political experience, and track record in public service.

The high-profile gathering also witnessed the presence of notable political figures and youth influencers within the party, including members of the Oyo State House of Assembly Hon. Kehinde Olatunde, Hon. Rasaq Mabaje, Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, Hon. Olusola Owolabi, Hon. Rahman Olorunpoto, Hon. Abiodun Babalola, and Hon. Ogunsola Anthony Oladejo

In addition, the endorsement event was attended by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hajia Wasilat Adegoke, Chairman, Oyo State Youth Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale, PDP Youth Leader in Oyo State, Hon. Kazeem Olamilekan Bello, State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Michael Ogunsina.

Prominent PDP youth leaders across the senatorial districts who were at the meeting included the Oyo North Youth Leader, Hon. Folawiyo Moshood; and Hon. Agbebi Olusola Peter, representing Oyo Central.
