The Bimbo Adekanmbi Support for Excellence (BASE) Movement, a youth-driven political mobilisation group supporting the 2027 governorship ambition of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has formally met with the candidate, his deputy, Muftau Open Salawu, and members of the campaign council.
The meeting, held on Monday at Adekanmbi’s Kobiowu office in Ibadan, was attended by members of the BASE Movement led by its State Coordinator, Hon. Kolawole Akanmu, alongside the governorship campaign council led by Dr. Nureni Adeniran.
During the meeting, the movement formally unveiled Adekanmbi as its patron and announced the official opening of its membership registration portal for interested members across Oyo State.
Speaking after the engagement, Akanmu described the meeting with Adekanmbi and members of the campaign council as a morale booster for members of the movement, saying it would further strengthen their commitment to promoting Adekanmbi’s political vision ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the movement considered it appropriate to appoint Adekanmbi as its patron in recognition of his leadership qualities and the values which BASE represents.
Also speaking, the Director of Digital Media of BASE, Joel Adeoti, popularly known as Jaas, said the meeting provided an opportunity for the movement to express its solidarity with Adekanmbi, interact with members of his campaign council and strategise on activities lined up ahead of the election.
Adeoti explained that BASE was established to provide a platform for young people to contribute meaningfully to the development of Oyo State by supporting a leader they believe possesses the competence, integrity and experience required to sustain the state’s progress.
According to him, the movement is designed to go beyond conventional political mobilisation by positioning young people not merely as campaign supporters, but as partners in governance, community champions, innovators and agents of sustainable development.
He described BASE as a statewide youth mobilisation initiative built around the values of integrity, humanity and excellence in support of Adekanmbi’s political vision.
“The movement is founded on the conviction that the future belongs to those who are willing to prepare for it and work towards it. It is a youth-driven campaign movement designed to position young people as active participants in shaping the future of our dear state,” Jaas said.
He added that the meeting with Adekanmbi and his campaign council produced “a robust discussion,” noting that the movement remained committed to promoting a candidate with what he described as a proven record of integrity, youth development and empowerment, as well as the experience needed to take Oyo State to greater heights.
