Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan, is once again set to take centre stage on the national landscape as it hosts the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, Oyo State Chapter, on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The hosting of the First Lady at the iconic resort is another testament to the growing stature of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort as one of Nigeria’s foremost destinations for high-profile government functions, political engagements, international conferences, sporting events, tourism and premium hospitality.

Preparatory to the historic event, the leadership of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Wing, led by the State Women Leader, Dr. Adekemi Felicia Opatunde, conducted an inspection tour of the resort’s world-class facilities.

The delegation was warmly received by the Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, who personally took the team round the expansive hospitality and sporting complex.

Accompanying the delegation were the APC Deputy State Women Leader, Hon. Fatima Titilayo Hassan, Hon. Oyenike Adeleke, Hon. Patience Oladipo, Dr. Funmi Aderinto, Hon. Feyisayo Oladipo, and Alhaja Tiamiyu Adeola, among other party stakeholders.

At the end of the inspection, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the resort’s exceptional infrastructure, security architecture, conference facilities, accommodation, sporting amenities and serene environment, affirming that Ilaji Resort possesses the capacity and global standard befitting an event that will welcome Nigeria’s First Lady and other distinguished personalities.

The forthcoming inauguration is expected to attract an array of eminent political leaders, government functionaries, women leaders, youth groups, traditional rulers, business executives and party supporters from across Oyo State and beyond.

The selection of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort for yet another event of national significance further underscores the visionary leadership and enduring legacy of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, whose unwavering commitment to excellence has transformed the resort into one of Africa’s fastest-growing hospitality, tourism and sports destinations.

Widely celebrated as the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Sanusi has continued to redefine private-sector investment through landmark initiatives that have created employment opportunities, stimulated tourism, nurtured sporting talents and contributed immensely to the economic development of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Beyond his remarkable investments in hospitality, Chief Sanusi remains a foremost philanthropist and community builder whose interventions in education, youth empowerment, healthcare, entrepreneurship, culture and humanitarian services have positively impacted countless lives across the country.

Over the years, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort has become the preferred destination for presidents, governors, ministers, diplomats, captains of industry, religious leaders, traditional rulers, sporting organisations and international visitors, further establishing Ibadan as a thriving hub for tourism, investment and economic activities.

As Nigeria’s First Lady prepares to inaugurate the Tinubu Torch Bearers in Oyo State, Ilaji Resort once again stands proudly as a symbol of indigenous excellence, visionary entrepreneurship and world-class hospitality, reinforcing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most prestigious event destinations.
