The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has emerged as the chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the forthcoming 2026 Local Government Elections, following a consensus arrangement unanimously endorsed by the party’s leadership and stakeholders in the local government.

Olufade’s emergence came after extensive consultations among party leaders, who unanimously resolved to adopt him as the party’s standard-bearer in recognition of his leadership qualities, administrative accomplishments, and commitment to grassroots development during his first term in office.

The consensus decision, which received the full backing of the APM leadership in Ibadan North, was described by party stakeholders as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the unity currently prevailing within the party.

They noted that the adoption was a testament to the confidence reposed in Olufade’s capacity to consolidate on the achievements already recorded under his administration.

According to the stakeholders, the Chairman has demonstrated uncommon dedication to improving infrastructure, strengthening grassroots governance, promoting people-oriented policies, and fostering harmony among political leaders and residents of the local government.

They expressed optimism that his re-election would further accelerate the pace of development across the twelve wards of Ibadan North, while sustaining the culture of responsive and accountable governance.

Speaking shortly after his emergence as the party’s candidate, Hon. Olufade expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and members of the Allied Peoples Movement for finding him worthy of another opportunity to serve.

He described the consensus endorsement as a great honour and a call to greater responsibility, pledging not to betray the confidence reposed in him by the party and the people of Ibadan North.

“I am sincerely grateful to the leadership and members of our great party, the Allied Peoples Movement, for this overwhelming show of confidence and support.

This consensus is not just an endorsement of my administration but a renewed call to serve our people with greater dedication, sincerity, and commitment,” he said.

Olufade assured party leaders, members, and residents that his administration would continue to pursue aggressive developmental initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

He emphasized that inclusive governance would remain the hallmark of his administration, stressing that every segment of the local government would continue to enjoy equal opportunities and adequate representation in governance.

“My administration will continue to prioritize developmental projects that positively impact our people.

Above all, inclusiveness will remain our guiding principle because sustainable development can only be achieved when every stakeholder has a sense of belonging.

Together, we will build on our achievements and take Ibadan North to even greater heights,” he added.

His emergence has since been greeted with excitement by party faithful and supporters across the local government, many of whom described the development as a well-deserved recognition of his performance and a strong indication that the APM is entering the 2026 local government elections with unity, confidence, and a clear vision for continued progress in Ibadan North.
