The Deputy Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports, Hon. Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi, has reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, declaring that sustainable development can only be achieved through strategic investments in security, education, and healthcare.

‎The lawmaker made this known during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by Justice For Development &Peace Commission (JDPC) with community leaders, traditional representatives, opinion leaders, youth groups, market leaders, religious leaders, and other critical stakeholders across Ibadan Southwest Local Government, where he rendered an account of his stewardship since assuming office as the representative of Ibadan Southwest State Constituency I.

‎Addressing the gathering, Hon. Adebisi described the interactive session as an important democratic exercise aimed at strengthening the bond between elected representatives and the people, while providing constituents with a firsthand opportunity to assess his performance and offer constructive feedback.

‎According to him, every decision and project undertaken during his tenure has been guided by three fundamental pillars that he considers indispensable to human existence and societal progress security, education, and healthcare.

‎He noted that security remains the foundation upon which every meaningful development rests, stressing that no community can experience economic growth or social stability in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

‎”As your representative, I firmly believe that every responsible government must prioritize the safety of lives and property. That informed my decision to facilitate the construction of an ultra-modern police station to strengthen security architecture within our constituency and improve policing at the grassroots,” he said.

‎Speaking on education, Hon. Adebisi disclosed that work on the proposed secondary school in Ibadan Southwest State Constituency I has reached an advanced stage and will soon be completed. He described the project as a landmark intervention that will significantly expand access to quality education for children within the constituency.

‎He explained that the school project was initiated to bridge educational gaps and reduce the burden on parents whose children travel long distances in search of secondary education.

‎The lawmaker also highlighted his interventions in the health sector, revealing that he facilitated the establishment and upgrading of a Primary Health Care Centre equipped with a solar-powered alternative energy system to ensure uninterrupted medical services despite the challenges of electricity supply.

‎According to him, quality healthcare should never be compromised because of inadequate infrastructure, emphasizing that the solar installation would guarantee efficient service delivery and improve healthcare outcomes for residents.

‎Hon. Adebisi further stated that the provision of potable water and street lighting across the constituency should not be celebrated as extraordinary achievements but regarded as fundamental responsibilities of any responsive government.

‎He recalled that boreholes and solar-powered street lights had been installed across all six wards of Ibadan Southwest State Constituency I to improve the quality of life of residents.

‎”The provision of clean water and lighting is not a favour to the people. It is the responsibility of every government that truly cares about the welfare of its citizens. I simply fulfilled that responsibility because our people deserve basic amenities,” he said.
‎

Beyond infrastructure, the Deputy Chief Whip said youth empowerment has remained one of the defining features of his representation.

‎He recalled that he had successfully organized two major empowerment programmes through which hundreds of young people and artisans received practical vocational training in various trades before being supported with working tools and equipment worth millions of naira to establish and expand their businesses.

‎According to him, empowering young people with sustainable means of livelihood remains one of the most effective strategies for reducing unemployment, poverty, and crime while promoting economic self-reliance.

‎He assured constituents that his administration would continue to pursue policies and initiatives capable of improving living standards and creating greater opportunities for residents across the constituency.

‎Hon. Adebisi expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for creating an enabling environment for legislators to facilitate impactful constituency projects, while also thanking community leaders and residents for their unwavering support, cooperation, and confidence in his leadership.

‎Community leaders at the engagement commended the lawmaker for maintaining regular consultation with his constituents and for executing projects that directly address the needs of the people.

‎They particularly applauded his investments in security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, water supply, and rural infrastructure, describing his stewardship as practical, inclusive, and development-oriented.

‎The stakeholders reaffirmed their support for Hon. Adebisi and urged him to sustain the momentum by initiating more programmes that would further enhance the welfare and socio-economic development of Ibadan Southwest State Constituency I.
