The Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State has extended heartfelt congratulations to all adherents of Islam in the state and beyond on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, describing the festival as a sacred period marked by reflection and gratitude.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Forum Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, alongside Spokesperson, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, encouraged the Muslim Ummah to use the celebration as a time for introspection and reaffirmation of faith. “Eid-el-Kabir is not only a time for festivity but also an opportunity to reflect on our values, purpose, and the significance of sacrifice,” the statement emphasized.

The Forum also expressed solidarity with Governor Seyi Makinde in the ongoing efforts to rescue pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area. It prayed for the safe return of the victims and called on security agencies to demonstrate enhanced wisdom, diligence, and efficiency to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.

In addition to prayers for the abductees, the Forum advised Muslims to celebrate moderately, ensuring that festivities align with legal provisions and public safety regulations. The Chairmen reiterated their commitment to supporting government initiatives that safeguard citizens and promote social harmony.

It called for love and unity, reminding the community that the essence of Eid-el-Kabir extends beyond feasting and gifts, urging reflection on compassion, generosity, and responsibility toward fellow citizens.
