The National Secretary of the Accord Party, Hon. Dr. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, has affirmed the emergence of Hon. Kunle Busari, popularly known as Gudugudu, as the party’s governorship candidate for Oyo State following a successful and keenly contested primary election.
Dr. Ajaja disclosed this during an interview with renowned journalist, Isaac Brown, stating that the party conducted a transparent and credible primary process involving all the three major aspirants cleared by the party’s national leadership.
According to him, Hon. Kunle Busari, Fatai Owoseni, and Oriyomi Hamzat were all screened and officially cleared to participate in the governorship primary election under the platform of the Accord Party.

She explained that because all the aspirants successfully scaled through the screening process, the party adopted the direct primary option to allow delegates and party members across the state to decide who would fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming governorship election.

The primary election, which took place at Ibadan Business School, was conducted across all the local government areas of the state, with electoral officers closely monitoring and collating results from their respective councils before the final announcement.

Dr. Ajaja noted that the process lasted several hours due to the time taken to receive and collate results from all local governments to ensure accuracy and transparency.
At the end of the exercise, Hon. Kunle Busari popularly known as Gudugudu emerged victorious over fellow aspirants, Fatai Owoseni and Oriyomi Hamzat, to clinch the party’s governorship ticket.
She emphasized that none of the aspirants stepped down or withdrew from the race, stressing that the election was fully contested and democratically conducted in line with the constitution of the party.
“The three major aspirants were screened and cleared by the national leadership of the party. Since they were all cleared, the party settled for direct primary.
The election was conducted successfully across the local governments, and after proper collation of results, Hon. Kunle Busari, popularly known as Goodugoodu, emerged as the Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State,” Dr. Ajaja stated.
