A frontline politician in Oyo State and current Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Seun Temilolu Nurudeen Ashamu, has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).

In a statement released on his official Facebook page, Barr. Ashamu said his decision followed wide consultations, reflection, and prayers, noting that it aligns with the broader developmental vision of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. He described his move as a “call to service,” emphasizing his readiness to contribute more directly to national development through effective representation.

He highlighted his previous roles as pioneer Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, and currently Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, stating that these experiences have strengthened his belief that governance must directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

He added that his focus at the National Assembly would be jobs creation, youth empowerment, economic opportunities, and grassroots development.

Ending his declaration, Barr. Ashamu used the Yoruba expression “Alubarika fún gbogbo wa,” calling for unity, support, and collective progress as he embarks on what many political observers describe as a significant step toward the 2027 general elections.
