“We’re Being Ignored” — Oyo APC Loyalists Decry Betrayal Over Tinubu’s Appointments

Concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have voiced deep dissatisfaction over recent political appointments made by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the trend as discouraging to loyal party faithful who remained steadfast through difficult times.

In a strongly worded reaction, the aggrieved members expressed worry that individuals who contested the 2023 general elections under opposition platforms are being prioritized for key national appointments ahead of long-standing APC stalwarts in the state.

They specifically referenced the recent nomination of Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu.

According to the group, both figures had contested the last general election under different political parties raising concerns about the reward system within the APC.

“This development sends a troubling message to committed party members who stood firm with the APC despite political storms,” the statement read.

“It suggests that loyalty and consistency are no longer valued, while those who abandoned the party during critical moments are being elevated.”

The group noted that respected party leaders in Oyo State, including Teslim Folarin and Soji Akanbi, alongside many other devoted members, have remained loyal to the APC over the years but continue to be overlooked in federal appointments.

They argued that such decisions risk weakening the party’s internal cohesion and morale, particularly at a time when unity is crucial ahead of future elections.

“Many of us worked tirelessly for the party’s success at various levels during the last general election.

It is therefore disheartening to feel sidelined, almost like strangers in a party we helped build,” the statement added.

The concerned members further warned that the current pattern of appointments could deepen divisions within the party in Oyo State, potentially affecting its electoral strength if not urgently addressed.

While reaffirming their commitment to the APC and its broader progressive ideals, the group called on President Tinubu to reassess his approach to political appointments and ensure that loyalty, sacrifice, and long-term dedication to the party are duly recognized.

“We remain committed to the growth and success of the APC,” the statement concluded, “but fairness, inclusivity, and recognition of loyal members must be at the heart of our party’s leadership decisions.”
