Properties worth millions of naira were engulfed by an inferno in different locations in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the Kara Police station vehicle in Akinyele was engulfed by fire on Friday, together with seven Motorcycles.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident to our correspondence.

He said, the officer of the Agency led by CFS Adesina promptly mobilized and deployed to the scene of the incident.

“It was a Patrol Van and Seven motorcycles engulfed by fire and the officer quickly launched attack restricted the fire from spreading to nthe police stations building and other properties.

No casualty was recorded as the fire incident was traced to be some suspected arms men attack on the station.

Also, the upper floor of a storey residential building was engulfed by flames and thick smoke at No. 19, Omigade street, Robert junction, Ososami, Ibadan.

No casualty was recorded as the fire affected only the ground floor of the building.

The fire incident was as a result of an electrical spark from an overheating appliance plugged in unattended.

A brief fire safety lecture was delivered to the public and fire service men was able to save properties worth millions of naira.

Furthermore, an inferno
was as a result of an electrical surge from appliance plugged in unattended to and ignited nearby combustibles.

It was also discovered that the second room right at the upper floor of a storey residential building of 12 rooms.was engulfed by inferno.

No casualty was recorded as the fire slightly affected only the second room and the whole building was save from devastating fire.

Equally, a bungalow residential building of Eight rooms were fully engulfed in flames and thick smoke at No. 39, Akanmo compound, Aroye, Hope Road, Ibadan today, Saturday 25th April, 2026.

No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of electric surge when power supply was restored.

Residents applauded the Oyo State Governor Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service in responding to emergencies.

On finality, the special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform, Hon. Moroof Akinwande urged the public to always switch off and unplugged any electrical appliances when not in use.

He emphasized the importance of installing fire extinguisher in both residential and commercial buildings.
