Stakeholders across the Oyo Federal Constituency have unanimously thrown their weight behind the choice of an Afijio-born candidate to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

This emerged as part of far-reaching resolutions during a strategic consultation meeting between frontline aspirant, Hon. Busoye Soladoye Ogunlade, and political stakeholders in Jobele on Thursday.

The meeting drew together community leaders, party delegates, women and youth groups, traditional council representatives, and opinion moulders from all four LGAs that make up the federal constituency.

Participants emphasized that equity, fairness, and historical precedence favour Afijio producing the next representative.

Stakeholders noted that despite Afijio’s strategic contributions to the constituency, the area has long been underrepresented.

They highlighted the need for political balancing, insisting that it is Afijio’s turn to produce the next federal lawmaker to ensure inclusive development across Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba, and Afijio.

Speaking during the consultation, Hon. Ogunlade appreciated the massive turnout and the goodwill expressed towards his aspiration.

He said his decision to run stemmed from a desire to further contribute to grassroots development and strengthen the voice of the constituency at the national level.

Recall that Ogunlade recently resigned as Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) to pursue his ambition.

His resignation letter, addressed to the Governor, affirmed his loyalty to the party structure and his commitment to a transparent, people-centered campaign.

At the meeting, stakeholders commended his courage, administrative experience, and record of service, describing him as a “credible choice with the capacity to deliver quality representation.”

Many expressed confidence that his track record in public service places him in a strong position to champion the interests of the constituency.

A communiqué issued at the end of the consultation reaffirmed the stakeholders’ resolution:
That Afijio should produce the next House of Representatives member.

That Hon. Busoye Soladoye Ogunlade remains a leading contender capable of uniting the constituency.

That all party leaders and delegates should prioritise equity, competence, and grassroots acceptance in making their final decision.

The consultation in Jobele is the first in a series of engagements Ogunlade is expected to hold as he continues to build momentum ahead of the party primaries.

Stakeholders pledged continued support and encouraged him to maintain his inclusive approach as the political process unfolds.
