The burial ceremony of the in-law to elder statesman and PDP stalwart, Chief Olabode George, witnessed a remarkable display of solidarity and high-profile attendances as leading political figures and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects over the weekend.

Among those present were Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor, the 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial candidate and the Alaafin’s grandson, who doubles as the CEO of Ocean Track Holdings Company, Prince Afeez Siyanbola Ladigbolu, and Hon. Dare Adeleke, a South-West PDP chieftain and seasoned political strategist.

The dignitaries, arriving in style, turned heads as they made their way into the solemn event held in Lagos. Their presence did not go unnoticed, as it underscored not only their respect for Chief Bode George but also a deeper message of unity across political and generational lines.

Hon. Dare Adeleke, well-regarded for his unwavering loyalty within the PDP and his longstanding ties with Chief George, was seen actively engaging with attendees and offering words of comfort to the bereaved family. Adeleke, a close political associate of the PDP elder, described the moment as “one that transcends politics” and called for greater compassion among public servants and leaders.

Rhodes-Vivor, on the other hand, praised the legacy of unity and service that Chief Bode George continues to represent, stating that the large turnout was a reflection of the lives he has touched. The presence of Prince Afeez Kolade Siyanbola Ladigbolu added royal significance to the event, linking traditional Yoruba heritage with contemporary governance.

The burial ceremony blended Christian rites with rich Yoruba cultural traditions, as family members, friends, and associates came together in honor of the departed.

Beyond the ceremony, the gathering of these prominent figures served as a symbolic reminder of the enduring importance of unity, respect, and mutual support — values that are increasingly critical in Nigeria’s political and social landscape.
