The Ladilu of Oyo Kingdom, Chief Bisi Ilaka, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa 1, on his coronation as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland today.
In a statement released and made available to the media in Ibadan today, the former Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Chief Ilaka, lauded Oba Ladoja’s ascension as a historic moment for Ibadan, describing it as a convergence of wisdom, experience, and statesmanship.
He expressed optimism that the new reign would usher in an era of unity, cultural renaissance, and accelerated development for the ancient city.
According to him, “Oba Ladoja’s emergence is not only well-deserved but timely. His wealth of experience in governance and deep connection to Ibadan’s traditional values make him an ideal custodian of the Olubadan stool.”
Chief Ilaka, a prominent political figure and traditional titleholder in Oyo Kingdom, further predicted a “Muideen Ibadan” — a spiritually rejuvenated, prosperous Ibadan under Oba Ladoja’s leadership.
The term, rooted in Yoruba tradition, refers to a divinely guided transformation of both people and their surroundings.
“Olubadan is more than a monarch, he is a spiritual symbol of Ibadan’s soul. I believe this reign will renew hope, strengthen the cultural fabric, and open a new chapter of blessings for our people,” Ilaka added.
The coronation of Oba Ladoja has been widely celebrated across the South-West region, with dignitaries, traditional rulers, and citizens hailing his leadership credentials and long-standing service to Ibadanland.
As the city steps into a new era, expectations are high that the legacy of peace, progress, and prestige synonymous with the Olubadan institution will be further solidified under Oba Ladoja’s rule.
