In another strategic move to address growing concerns around safety and misinformation, a high-level peace and security meeting was convened on Tuesday at the Ido Local Government Secretariat.

The session was presided over by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Olayemi Oluwashina, who stood in for the Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, currently on leave.

The meeting brought together a cross-section of critical stakeholders in governance and security.

Among those present were Hon. AbdulAzeez Yahaya, Chief of Staff; Hon. Kamo Gbadamosi, Secretary to the Local Government; Dr. Ayodele Riskat Busari, Head of Local Government Administration; and Mrs. Adeshina Titilayo, Director of Administration and General Services.

Also in attendance were religious leaders, senior administrative officers, and representatives from Nigeria Police, NSCDC, Immigration, Road Safety, and Operation Burst.

Key discussions focused on curbing the spread of fake news and misinformation, especially related to sensitive issues like rape and kidnapping. Participants emphasized the need for responsible information sharing and urged community members to verify news before circulation.

Security infrastructure also took center stage, with renewed calls for the installation of CCTV cameras across strategic locations to boost surveillance and deter criminal activity.

A pressing topic was the recurring conflict between Fulani herdsmen and local farmers. Deliberations stressed the need for proactive engagement, as well as fair compensation for losses incurred during clashes.

Tqhe Operation Burst Commander presented an in-depth analysis of existing collaboration among security agencies in the area. He highlighted successful joint efforts while outlining areas needing reinforcement to enhance overall effectiveness.

The gathering concluded with a collective commitment to sustaining inter-agency cooperation and community engagement, as Ido Local Government continues its drive to foster a more secure and peaceful environment for all residents.
