
The Forum of Local Government Vice-Chairmen in Oyo State has declared its support for Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as the preferred successor to Governor Seyi Makinde, applauding the governor for what they described as purposeful leadership and impactful governance across the state.
The endorsement was made public by the forum Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Adigun (Aatu), following a strategic meeting of vice-chairmen drawn from the 33 local government areas of Oyo State, where members unanimously expressed confidence in Adekanmbi’s capacity to sustain the developmental strides of the current administration.
According to the forum, their decision was informed by Adekanmbi’s loyalty to the ideals of good governance, his grassroots political strength, administrative competence, and his alignment with Governor Makinde’s vision for continued growth and development in Oyo State.


Speaking on behalf of the forum, the chairman of the body noted that Governor Makinde has redefined governance in Oyo State through infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment, economic reforms, educational advancement, and improved welfare policies, adding that the state requires a capable and experienced hand to consolidate on these achievements.

The vice-chairmen described Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as a tested and trusted political figure with the leadership qualities required to take Oyo State to greater heights after the expiration of Governor Makinde’s tenure.

They further emphasized that Adekanmbi possesses a deep understanding of governance and grassroots politics, making him a suitable candidate to continue the legacy of progress established by the current administration.
The forum also praised Governor Makinde for fostering inclusiveness in governance and creating opportunities for young political leaders to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
“We are proud of Governor Makinde’s leadership style and the remarkable achievements recorded under his administration. As vice-chairmen at the grassroots, we understand the importance of continuity, and that is why we are throwing our weight behind Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as the most credible successor,” the forum stated.
The group called on party stakeholders, political leaders, and residents of Oyo State to support Adekanmbi’s emergence, stressing that continuity of effective leadership remains crucial to sustaining the state’s developmental momentum.
