Lifeline for Mogaji/Sooro Communities: Hon. Badmus Olaide Commissions 6,000L Solar-Powered Borehole with Oyo Env. Commissioner, Ashamu [PHOTOS]

There was a wild jubilation in Mogaji Ward 08 and Sooro Ward 09 Communities yesterday, as the Council Political Head, Hon. Badmus Ismail Olaide, relieved them of acute water scarcity with a donation of 4 units each 6000L Solar Hybrid Boreholes.

Hundreds of residents of the Mogaji and Sooro communities trooped to the streets to welcome and appreciate the council’s Political Head for what many termed as a donation that would alleviate their age-long water scarcity problems.

The commissioning which served as a convergence point for the high profile politicians and other people from all walks of life had in attendance Oyo State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. (Barr.)Temilolu Seun Nurudeen Ashamu, the executive Chairman Atiba Local Government Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji (Wabkem).

Others include Chief of Staff, Hon. Babalola Saheed, Party Leaders, Honourable Councillors, Supervisory Councilor, Special Assistants, Stakeholders and several others.

Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Olaide Badmus acknowledged that the project is to commemorate his One Year in office and aimed at providing a reliable source of clean water for the residents to address the long-standing challenge of water scarcity.

According to him, this is in line with the sustainable development legacy of His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde FNSE, DSc, GSSRS, showing the potential for renewable energy to drive development and improve living standards at the grassroots level.

With this initiative, the solar-powered boreholes are expected to benefit thousands of households, schools, council communities, and businesses in the area.

In his own words, Barr. Ashamu encouraged the communities to continue supporting the current administration for more dividends of democracy.

The commissioner lays emphasis on the importance of providing clean water, stressing that “Water is the most important natural resource of life. The only entity that doesn’t get the enemy and its daily usage for human consumption is irreplaceable.

Meanwhile, he lauded the residents for their sincere words of encouragement on the provision of a Borehole based on their needs analysis in putting an end to their suffering.

Ashamu assured Atiba residents that the council chairman, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, and his Vice, Hon. Badmus Ismail Olaide, would work with various stakeholders to ensure that the community is connected to the national grid.

While appreciating the government’s gesture in providing the boreholes for the communities, a community leader, Alh. Suleiman Mongaji eulogized Engr. Seyi Makinde and his able team in Atiba Local Government for making the dividends of democracy reaching their communities.
He, therefore, pledged their total support for the government.

He further explained that the major problems facing the communities are water, electricity and good road networks and with this development, one is solved.

While urging the communities not to relent in supporting the sustainable development of Gov Makinde, the executive Chairman of Atiba Local Government, Hon Wahab Waliu Adetunji stressed the state government efforts at giving access to basic amenities and other benefits that would enhance their socio-economic life.

In attendance are; Hon. Wahab Waliu Wabkem, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu (PDP Party Chairman Atiba), Oyo Southeast Political Head Hon. Wasiu Mustapha Waspa, Alhaji Olatunji Quadri, Alhaji Sulaiman Ajepe, Basiru Adeleke, Isiaka Ayinde, Hon. Rasaq Asiwaju, Evan. Tunde Oyegbami, Iya Sola, Women and Youth leader, Party members and several others.
