Ahead of the forthcoming local government election in Oyo State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftains, Stakeholders, local executives, and members of the party in Oyo East local government on Monday unanimously endorsed the candidature of Hon. Olusola Peter Oluokun and Wasiu Mustapha Ademola for the Chairmanship and Vice chairmanship candidate for next year’s council elections.

The event which took place at the L.A Primary School, Jabata, Oyo, Oyo State had in attendance members of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, Sen. Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu, Hon. James Omikunle, the Oyo State PDP Vice Chairman, Baba Siju Salam, Prince Mukaila Oladokun, Hon. Owolabi Mumini, Baba Oleojegi, Princess Mojisola Adeyemi, Hon Yunus Alaka, Hon Ganiyu Mojeed, Alhaji Bili Onifade, Mr. Rasheed Agba, Alhaji Lukman Adeyanju, Hon. Salawu Mumini Eburuke, Mr. Fariogun
Baba Akano Ija, Youth leader Mr. Isiaka Mudashiru, and Women leader Simbi Jimoh.

Speaking at the gathering Oyo East PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Sakiru Ojo, reiterated all the candidates were warmly received, saying party primaries had gone, and it’s time to seek the harmonization of all structures, unifying all differences and come together to support the party Chairmanship, vice Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates for the party to triumph at the forthcoming Council election.


He pressed further that the candidate had passed through the necessary procedure at the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), as well as the State PDP secretariat, Ibadan, noting that the next line of action is to pave the way for partnership, making necessary steps to ensure victory across units, wards in Oyo East.


Sakiru Ojo used the medium to inform the gathering that Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi has promised to support all the council candidates, stressing that PDP in Oyo East is One. He cautions some groups causing political vendetta against party decisions, claiming that any members found tarnishing the image of the party will be dealt with.

Also, the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State Vice chairman, Hon. James Omikunle lauded the party chieftains and thousands of members for their show of love, and support for the council candidates, while commended the local executives for their prompt actions in implementing the State party instructions towards peace-making for the candidates at the mother of them all council.

He assured that the coming election remains a big win for all PDP candidates in Oyo East and the State in particular.

In his remarks, Hon Olusola Peter Oluokun hailed the party chieftains, stakeholders, executives, and faithful members for putting aside their differences and seeking a peaceful existence among them, truly Oyo East is the mother of them all.

He appreciated the support of the state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, and her Mother, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu for the very rare privilege given to him as the candidate, he promised to renew the grassroots hope for development, creating opportunities for empowerment, putting in place various scheme that would impact positively in their lives.



Oluokun said he’s in a race to further transform the party, as well as ensure peace relations among the aspirants, noting that Oyo East is for us all, it’s our model council and we’ll strive to promote dividends of democracy at no cost directly to the people.
The Chairmanship hopeful pressed further that, Oyo East would witness its fair share of development to bring positive change in the lives of the people under his administration.

In her speech, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu appreciated the party stakeholders, and local executive support for the Chairmanship, vice Chairmanship, and Councilorship candidates. She lauded the state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde for his belief in equity, fairness, and justice which has developed the party beyond rhetorics.

Senator Monsurat Sunmonu promised the good people of Oyo East that Oluokun/Waspa would put smile.on the faces of the residents while the legislative arm will make necessary laws aimed at improving grassroots development.
