…Announces Donation at 2026 Tailors’ Day and ₦200m Fundraising Ceremony

The Seun Ashamu Campaign Organisation has donated ₦5 million towards the construction of an ultramodern secretariat for the Oyo Zone of the Nigeria Union of Tailors.

The donation was announced by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu during the union’s 2026 Tailors’ Day celebration and ₦200 million fundraising ceremony held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Ladigbolu Grammar School, Oyo.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) House of Representatives candidate for Oyo Federal Constituency, Barr. Temilolu Nurudeen Ashamu (Seun TNA), attended the programme as Special Guest of Honour.

Ashamu noted his family’s longstanding relationship with the union, recalling that his late grandmother had been a prominent stakeholder in the association during her lifetime.

The event brought together members of the tailoring profession, industry stakeholders, community leaders and invited guests to celebrate the contributions of tailors to the local economy and mobilise support for the proposed secretariat.

The ₦200 million project is intended to provide a modern administrative and operational centre for the union, strengthen its organisational capacity and support the professional development of members across the zone.

The ₦5 million contribution was made in support of the union’s efforts to establish a permanent facility for its activities.

The programme also highlighted the important role of tailoring and other vocational professions in promoting entrepreneurship, skills development and sustainable livelihoods.

Ashamu’s participation reflected his continued engagement with professional associations and community organisations across Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency, particularly those involved in enterprise development and economic activities.

Other political leaders and stakeholders in attendance included Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; Hon. Sakiru Ojo, Director-General of the Seun Ashamu Campaign Council; Secretary of the APM, Hon. Oyelami Oyeyemi; Prince Wale Fariogun, APM State Executive Secretary; Secretary of Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Adekola Nurudeen; APM Leaders Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo, Alhaji Fatai Obabi, among other dignitaries.

The fundraising formed part of the union’s efforts to develop a lasting institutional facility for present and future generations of tailors in Oyo Zone of the State.
