In a bid to enhance security, boost local night-time business, and improve grassroots infrastructure, the lawmaker representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, continued his solar distribution under his ongoing “Light Up Oluyole” initiative.

Popularly known as Ilumoka Presenter, the lawmaker and APM Candidate for Oluyole Constituency continued the distribution and installation of solar-powered streetlights across several key communities under Wards 7, 3, 9, 2 and 5 within the constituency.

The benefiting communities in this phase include:

Ward 7: Ope Agbe, Omiyale, Ajo Community General, Aba Alfa communities

Ward 3: Aba Eje, Olupo Communities

Ward 9: Olubi Community

Ward 2: Ayegun Oleyo community

Ward 5: Alaata community

The distribution was in fulfillment of his pledge to ensure no area within the constituency is left in the dark.

The total number of solar-powered streetlights installed across communities in Oluyole Constituency has now risen to 300, marking another milestone in the ongoing Light Up Oluyole initiative.

Recall that Hon. Waheed Akintayo had earlier distributed 200 solar powered streetlights in the previous phases of the initiative.

The latest rollout phase directly targeted strategic locations across multiple wards in the Oluyole State Constituency.

Speaking during the rollout, Hon. Akintayo reiterated that while his primary statutory duty remains lawmaking and legislative advocacy, addressing the immediate welfare and safety needs of his constituents remains a paramount priority.

“Oluyole is a vast constituency with ten wards, and our goal is to reach every corner. Brightening our streets deters criminal activities and supports micro-businesses that operate into the evening hours,” Akintayo stated.

“We are taking these dividends of democracy directly to the grassroots.” He said

Community leaders, trade groups, and residents across the benefiting wards commended the lawmaker for his sustained presence and responsiveness to community needs.

Executives from the affected resident associations praised the solar light initiative as a crucial intervention for public safety, citing that previously dark junctions and community hubs now enjoy proper illumination.

The Light Up Oluyole project continues to move sequentially through all ten wards in the constituency, alongside other grassroots initiatives in education, security, and infrastructure support.

Community members in the newly illuminated areas have been urged to take collective ownership of the installed solar units to guard them against vandalism and ensure long-term functionality.
