Community leaders and other key stakeholders in Ward 4 of Oluyole State Constituency have commended the member representing the constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, popularly known as Ilumoka Presenter, for what they described as his quality representation and impactful projects across the constituency.

The endorsement came during a town hall meeting held at Akorede LCDA, Muslim Area, Ibadan, where community, religious and traditional leaders, as well as elders and other stakeholders were briefed on the lawmaker’s performance and projects in the constituency.

The town hall meeting is expected to continue in other 10 wards under the Oluyole state constituency

After giving his account of stewardship, the stakeholders noted that Hon. Akintayo has remained committed to the people while consistently initiating programmes and projects that have positively impacted residents of the constituency.

Some of the project that earned Hon. Akintayo’s endorsement at the meeting included the ongoing police station at Olode, installation of over two hundred (200) solar powered streetlight across flashpoint locations, facilitation of employment for youths, enrollment of 500 constituents on Oyo state health insurance scheme, free transportation for constituents to cushion subsidy removal among many others.

Speaking at the meeting, the stakeholders praised the lawmaker’s dedication to community development, youth empowerment, educational support and other people-oriented interventions, describing his approach to representation as inclusive and responsive to the needs of the people.

According to the stakeholders, the visible impact of his constituency projects and developmental initiatives has justified the confidence reposed in him, but appealed to the lawmaker him to sustain the tempo of service.

“We have carefully assessed the projects and programmes facilitated by Hon. Waheed Akintayo, and we are satisfied with his performance. His quality representation has continued to bring development closer to the people, and we encourage him to remain focused on delivering more dividends of democracy,”.

Responding, Hon. Akintayo appreciated the stakeholders for their confidence in his leadership and pledged to remain committed to effective representation.

While emphasizing the importance of having experienced representative in the legislature, Hon. Akintayo said that it translated into tangible development for the communities he serves.

Honourable Akintayo promised to work on the fresh requests made by the stakeholders with a view to offering necessary interventions

“Some of their demands that are not beyond my power, I will see to it. Those that are not on my table, I will ensure I go to the appropriate authority to seek help” he said.

“When you are a first timer in the house, you come for training. But when you go beyond the first term, you gain more experience. The more experience you have, the more progress and developmental projects for your constituency” Akintayo explained.

According to the lawmaker, one of the flagship projects is a new police station currently under construction in the Olode area, noting that the entire Olode area, which covers five wards, previously had no police station at all.

“When we commission this police station, it will be one of the five biggest police stations in this land” he said.

“We’ll continue this engagement in other wards of the constituency”

He noted that police station project when commissioned, would bring in financial institutions into the area, as well as more road projects and other developments that require continuity.

In education, the lawmaker said he facilitated three units of classrooms for schools in Olokonla and Faroku, adding that each school also received four units of toilets, separated for male and female pupils, and a standard borehole.

He disclosed that each school project cost 61 million naira.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Hon. Akintayo, appealed to the people of Oluyole not to give Oluyole a setback, but rather rally around him to bring more development to the constituency.

“ I want to appeal to them. They have tested me and they can see the facts, they can see the projects by themselves today. Rally around me. Going for a second term will bring more development” he said.

The lawmaker also canvassed support for candidates on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement, APM, including the governorship candidate Hon. Bimbo Adekunmbi, senatorial candidate Hon. Ajadi Olufemi Oguntoyimbo, as well as candidates for chairmanship and House of Representatives.

The meeting had in attendance, all general chairman, all zonal chairmen, all zonal secretries, traditional Leaders, religion leaders and all stakeholders across ward 4.
