The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, has joined sons and daughters of Ibarapaland to celebrate the conferment of prestigious chieftaincy titles on two distinguished sons of the region as part of activities marking the first coronation anniversary of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola (Ajobo Olurin I).

The ceremony, held at the Eleruwa palace attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, community leaders, government functionaries, family members and other dignitaries, who gathered to honour individuals whose contributions and achievements have continued to impact positively on Ibarapaland and Oyo State.

Those honoured at the ceremony were Dr. Olusola Ayandele (Eruobodo) and his wife, who were conferred with the titles of Aare Bobagunwa and Yeye Aare Bobagunwa of Ibarapaland respectively, while Chief Adewale Atanda (Alase) was installed as the Otunba of Ibarapaland while his wife was installed as Yeye Otunba.

The conferment of the titles was performed by the Eleruwa as part of programmes lined up to commemorate his first year on the throne.

The Speaker, who joined other prominent indigenes and stakeholders at the occasion, congratulated the newly installed chiefs, describing their recognition as a testament to their contributions to the development and wellbeing of the people.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin noted that traditional titles were not merely symbols of honour but also carried responsibilities to the people and the community.

The Speaker also commended the Eleruwa for using his first coronation anniversary to recognise and celebrate distinguished sons and daughters of Ibarapaland, describing the initiative as a demonstration of the monarch’s commitment to promoting unity, cultural values and community development.

He prayed for continued wisdom, strength and a peaceful reign for Oba Adegbola.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin further urged the newly installed chiefs to regard their elevation as a renewed call to service, stressing that their positions provided an opportunity to contribute even more meaningfully to the growth and development of Ibarapaland.

The chieftaincy ceremony was one of the major activities lined up for the Eleruwa’s first coronation anniversary, which also provides an opportunity for the people of Eruwa and Ibarapaland to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.
