The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming House of Representatives election, Hon. Seun Ashamu, has officially resigned from the party, in what appears to be a major political development within Oyo State’s political landscape.
Ashamu’s resignation was conveyed in a formal letter addressed to the leadership of the PDP in his countryside Atiba ward 06, where he announced his decision to terminate his membership with the party with immediate effect.
In the letter, the former PDP flagbearer expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities and platform it provided him during his time as a member, while wishing the party success in its future engagements.

Although the letter did not explicitly state the reasons behind his decision, political observers believe the move may signal a new alignment ahead of future political activities in Oyo State.

His resignation comes amid growing political realignments across the state as stakeholders continue consultations ahead of forthcoming electoral contests.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State nor Ashamu’s political associates have issued an official statement regarding his next political move.
The development is expected to generate reactions within the Oyo Federal Constituency political structure, where Ashamu remains a notable figure.
