The Okanlomo Oódua Movement has announced the indefinite postponement of the Okanlomo Oódua National Security Summit: Ilaji 2026, which was scheduled to hold in Ilaji, Oyo State.

In a statement issued by Comrade Williams Abiola Martins, Personal Media Aide to Okanlomo Oodua office, the decision followed “careful consultations and strategic reviews” to ensure the summit meets its intended objectives.

“While preparations had reached an advanced stage, it became necessary to take this step in order to ensure that when convened, the summit fully reflects the seriousness, inclusiveness, and impact required of a national security engagement of this magnitude,” Martins said.

He emphasised that the postponement should be viewed not as a setback but as a “strategic pause to strengthen coordination, broaden engagement, and deliver a summit worthy of its purpose.”

Okanlomo Oodua, the movement’s leader, remains committed to fostering dialogue on security, peace-building, and the protection of lives and livelihoods across the South-West and Nigeria at large.

“Together, we remain committed to a safer, stronger, and more secure nation,” Martins quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, a new date for the summit will be announced in due course through official channels, while the movement expressed gratitude to partners, institutions, traditional authorities, security stakeholders, and members of the public for their continued support and understanding.
