The first female Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, has mourned the loss of Chief Michael Koleoso, the esteemed Babalaje of Saki, who passed away on Monday night.

Senator Monsurat Sunmonu wrote:

“Thy glory, O Israel, is slain upon thy high places! How are the mighty fallen.”

She expressed her deep sadness over his passing, in a statement, highlighting the unique bond they shared that went beyond politics.

“I heard the news of the passing of Chief Michael Koleoso, the Babalaje of Saki with deep sadness.

“Baba and I shared a unique relationship that transcended politics; he took me as a daughter, I took him as a father. We discussed everything openly.

“Up until his final moments Babalaje remained resolute in his desire for Oyo State (and Nigeria) to reach greater heights and would always offer truthful counsel on how this could be achieved.

“My deepest condolences go to his immediate family, the people of Saki, Oyo State and Nigeria at large. I also commiserate with my political family on the loss of a pillar.

“I can only take solace in the fact that Baba lived a fulfilled life.

“May the Almighty God give us all the fortitude to bear the loss and may Baba meet Him in good spirits (Ameen).”
