…Say Only Ibadan Can’t Have Babaloja And Iyaloja

Market leaders and Stakeholders in Oyo State have described the appointment of Princess Folashade Abeo as Iyaloja General of Oyo State by Governor Seyi Makinde as an affirmation of justice, fairness and equity.

According to market sources, virtually all First and Second Class Obas were at the Oyo Palace when the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, who sent his staff of office, installed Princess Folasade Abeo Nurudeen as the Iyaloja-General of Oyo State following her nomination by 10 out of 12 clusters in 2022.

It was gathered that the Olugbon gave his assent, while the late Soun was represented, and the late Aseyin and Okere of Saki were present alongside several other traditional rulers.

Market leaders, led by the Iyadunni of Oyo State, were also said to have been present at the installation, which was held in a celebratory mood similar to Friday’s official confirmation by the state government.

Observers noted that Ibadan currently holds the positions of Babaloja-General and Asiwaju Oloja of Oyo State, adding that Governor Makinde has affirmed equity by issuing the instrument of office to Princess Abeo, who hails from Oyo town.

They stressed that the title is for the entire Oyo State and not for Ibadan alone, adding that the government has set aside politics to affirm what market leaders and traditional rulers decided years ago.

Supporters have since congratulated the new Iyaloja General, Princess Folasade Abeo Nurudeen, describing her as the first ever substantive Iyaloja General of Oyo State.

While cautioning Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi against what they described as a campaign of calumny against the appointment of Princess Folashade Abeo as the Iyaloja General, the stakeholders noted that the Governor had acted in fairness by allowing other zone to produce the Iyaloja General when Ibadan already produced Babaloja General.

They, however, called on Sarat Aduke to instantly congratulate Princess Abeo, adding that only God that gives power.
