All is set for the much-anticipated Odidiomo Students’ Legislative Summit, scheduled to hold today, with students of the University of Ibadan already arriving early to secure their seats for the leadership-focused engagement.
The summit, organised by the Students’ Representative Council of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU-SRC), is centred on the theme: “The Service Paradigm: Transforming Mindsets for Service-Driven Leadership in Nigeria.”
The event is expected to provide a platform for students and young people to engage directly with political and public-sector leaders on leadership, public service, representation and the responsibilities of emerging leaders.
The Convener of the summit is the UISU-SRC Speaker, Rt. Hon. John Oludele, while Hon. Dhkirullah Stanley Adedeji Olajide (Odidiomo) is the principal host.
Among the dignitaries expected at the summit are Oyo State Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is listed as the Special Guest; Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, the Keynote Speaker; and Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, who will serve as the Legislative Trainer.
The summit will also feature a panel session designed to broaden discussions around leadership, governance and the role of young people in Nigeria’s democratic development.
The panelists scheduled for the session include Hon. Seyi Adisa, Hon. Shina Peller, and Hon. Dr. Abiodun Oluwaseun Babalola, representing Ibadan North-East Constituency.
With students already trooping into the venue ahead of the commencement of activities, expectations are high that the summit will generate meaningful conversations on how young Nigerians can develop a stronger culture of service, accountability and responsible leadership.
The event is expected to attract students, political leaders, legislators, academics, youth stakeholders and other participants interested in strengthening leadership and democratic participation among Nigeria’s younger generation.
