Boye Nation: More Than A Political Slogan

Boye Nation is a name that has suddenly gained prominence in Oyo State’s political space, sparking curiosity among political observers and residents about the man and movement behind the emerging phenomenon.

At the centre of the conversation is Ajiboye Akande, a political figure from Ibadan who  is  a Personal Assistant to former Minister of Power, and two time gubernatorial  candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state. Oloye Bayo Adelabu.

Before the emergence of Boye Nation, Akande was largely regarded in some political circles as a relatively low-profile figure within the political establishment. Some critics even dismissed him as little more than an aide and political associate of Adelabu.

But the emergence and activities of Boye Nation appear to have changed that perception.

Beyond the name, supporters describe Akande as a grassroots political organiser whose network cuts across different segments of Oyo State’s political landscape.

The movement has increasingly attracted attention through its mobilisation activities, particularly among young people and grassroots political actors.

Akande is now being credited by his supporters with leading a growing number of people towards the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), as the party expands its political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

His supporters point to his organisational capacity, personal relationships and willingness to invest resources in political mobilisation as some of the factors behind the growing visibility of Boye Nation.

Akande has also acquired a reputation among associates as a politician who is prepared to spend heavily on his political activities—a characteristic that has earned him both admirers and critics.

For his supporters, however, Boye Nation is no longer merely a political slogan or a social media phenomenon. They see it as an emerging grassroots movement built around Ajiboye Akande and his expanding political network.

As the 2027 political season gathers momentum in Oyo State, the real strength, reach and staying power of Boye Nation will increasingly be tested at the grassroots.

For now, the question is no longer simply “Who is behind Boye Nation?” but whether the movement can translate its growing visibility and mobilisation into sustained political influence.
