Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief (Engr.) Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS), has continued his grassroots engagement across Ona Ara Local Government Area, mobilising local hunters and community stakeholders in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s gubernatorial ambition.

The latest mobilisation followed an engagement between Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi and members of the JDS Community Leaders Forum, alongside representatives of the local hunters in Ona Ara, where issues concerning community security, farmers’ safety, rural development and political participation ahead of 2027 were discussed.

According to the leadership of the hunters’ group, the mobilisation is part of their commitment to strengthening community security, protecting farmers and supporting political leaders they believe have demonstrated concern for the welfare and safety of people in rural communities.

Speaking on behalf of the hunters, the group’s leader, Olu Ode, Oloye Waheed Ogunleye, commended Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi for his longstanding support for local hunters and his encouragement of their community-based activities.

Ogunleye noted that JDS had consistently supported and mobilised the group, particularly in their efforts to address security challenges confronting farmers and communities operating around forest areas.

“You gave us life and have always supported and mobilised us whenever there are issues affecting our farmers in the forest. We appreciate your support and commitment to our people,” Ogunleye said.

He further declared the readiness of the hunters to contribute their quota to grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s aspiration to become Governor of Oyo State.

The group stressed that its political participation would be anchored on peaceful, lawful and responsible engagement, while remaining committed to the protection of lives and property within their communities.

Speaking during the engagement, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi appreciated the hunters, community leaders and members of the JDS Community Leaders Forum for their confidence and support. He reiterated the importance of grassroots participation, community security and collective responsibility in building a safer and more prosperous society.

The meeting with the JDS Community Leaders Forum further provided an opportunity for community leaders to deliberate on issues affecting their various communities and the need for stronger coordination ahead of the 2027 political season.

The development underscores the growing political activities at the grassroots as community leaders, hunters, youth groups and other stakeholders increasingly engage in discussions and align with their preferred candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
