The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has accepted the resignation of his Special Adviser, Hamsat Rasheed, popularly known as Omigborotiti, and wished him a speedy and complete recovery from his health challenges.

The Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Omooba Olumayowa Oyebayo Olaniyan, stated this on Friday while reacting to Omigborotiti’s resignation letter, in which he cited health challenges as the reason for his decision to step down from his position.

“In response to his letter of resignation, in which he cited health issues, the resignation has been accepted by the Right Honourable Speaker. His health has been a matter of concern to the Speaker, especially as the condition has kept him inactive for over two years. We understand the circumstances surrounding his decision and respect his choice to step aside to focus on his health,” Olaniyan said.

According to Omooba Olaniyan, the health condition of Omigborotiti has been a matter of concern to the Speaker, particularly as it has kept him largely inactive for over two years.

He said the Speaker had remained aware of the situation and had continued to show understanding towards his aide throughout the period of his health challenges.

The Chief of Staff, however, stressed that Omigborotiti’s contributions to the Speaker’s 2023 election is appreciated.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the contributions Omigborotiti made, particularly during the 2023 elections. Whatever the circumstances may be today, his efforts and sacrifices during that period remain recognised. Politics is not a do-or-die affair. Political circumstances may change, but that should not erase the contributions of individuals who have played their part at different times,” he added.
Omooba Olaniyan said the Speaker bore Omigborotiti no ill will and sincerely wished him well as he takes time to attend to his health.
“Our primary concern at this point is his health. We wish him well and pray that Almighty God grants him quick and complete recovery. The Speaker appreciates his service and contributions and respects his decision. We hope that he gets better and, when circumstances permit, there may still be opportunities for us to work together in the future,” Olaniyan said.
