… Announces Councilorship Candidate.
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo West Local Government has officially adopted a consensus arrangement and unveiled Hon. Alade Nureni Adeshola and Hon. Adebayo Saheed as its Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates respectively for the forthcoming December 2026 Local Government Elections.
The decision was reached during a well-attended stakeholders’ consensus meeting held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, where party executives, ward leaders, elders and delegates from the ten political wards of Oyo West Local Government unanimously endorsed the candidates.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the APM in Oyo West Local Government, Hon. Adebayo Akeem, described the consensus process as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to unity, internal democracy and collective progress.
According to him, the adoption of consensus followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the local government to ensure inclusiveness, fairness and harmony within the party.
He noted that the peaceful conclusion of the exercise further reflects the maturity of the party and its determination to approach the December council elections with a united front.
“The APM family in Oyo West has spoken with one voice. This consensus reflects the collective will of our members and positions our party for victory in the forthcoming local government elections. We have demonstrated that unity remains our greatest strength,” he said.
Consensus Candidates
The party presented the following candidates for the executive positions:
- Hon. Alade Nureni Adeshola – Chairmanship Candidate
- Hon. Adebayo Saheed – Vice Chairmanship Candidate
The party also unveiled its consensus councillorship candidates across the ten wards in Oyo West Local Government:
- Ward 1 (Akeetan): Oyesola Badmus
- Ward 2 (Oke Aafin): Salam Kehinde
- Ward 3 (Fashola): Olayiwola Saheed Oladayo
- Ward 4 (Iseke): Adedeji Abdullahi Olalekan
- Ward 5 (Ojongbodu): Olaniyi Timothy Olalekan
- Ward 6 (Isokun): Aleem Saheed
- Ward 7 (Iyaji): Olukore Waheed
- Ward 8 (Opapa): Ajilaran Yakub
- Ward 9 (Owode): Ajibade Olumide
- Ward 10 (Pakoyi): Oladokun Isa Salau
In separate goodwill messages, the Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Hon. Prince Akeem Salam Olukitibi, alongside Comrade Okediji Kazeem, Leader Adio Muhammed, and other prominent party stakeholders, commended the peaceful conduct of the consensus exercise and lauded members for placing the collective interest of the party above individual aspirations.
The leaders also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for providing an enabling political environment that promotes peace and democratic participation across the state. They equally acknowledged the strategic leadership and contributions of Senator Monsurat Sunmonu in fostering unity and ensuring a smooth consensus process within the party.
They praised all aspirants who embraced the consensus arrangement, describing their sportsmanship as a demonstration of political maturity and unwavering commitment to the growth of the Allied Peoples Movement.
The party leadership urged all candidates to immediately commence grassroots mobilisation, engage residents on developmental issues and conduct issue-based campaigns capable of inspiring confidence among the electorate ahead of the December polls.
Hon. Adebayo Akeem reaffirmed the party’s confidence in its candidates, expressing optimism that the Nureni/Saheed ticket possesses the experience, capacity and grassroots acceptance required to deliver responsive, transparent and people-centred governance in Oyo West Local Government.
He maintained that the consensus reached by the party has further strengthened the APM ahead of the elections and positioned it to record an impressive outing at the polls.
The meeting concluded with prayers for peaceful, credible and violence-free local government elections, as party faithful pledged their unwavering support for all the consensus candidates and reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the success of the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo West Local Government.
