The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Oluwatobi Olufade, has urged secondary school students to pursue excellence relentlessly and never settle for mediocrity.
He delivered this message through his representative at the 15th Valedictory Speech and Prize Giving Day of Command Day Secondary School, Letmauck Cantonment, Mokola, Ibadan.
Hon. Olufade was represented by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Ajebisi Olabode. In his remarks, Mr. Olabode congratulated students, teachers, parents and the graduands on completing the 2025/2026 academic year.
He reinforced the chairman’s charge with practical guidance for the next stage of the students’ lives: “Never settle for average. Embrace lifelong learning because education doesn’t end in secondary school. Use technology wisely; let digital platforms be tools for learning, innovation and positive influence rather than sources of distraction.
Respect others and value diversity, because you will meet people from different backgrounds.”
The ceremony included valedictory speeches, prize presentations, goodwill messages, the launch of the 2025/2026 edition of the Trend Magazine, musical performances and other entertainment.
In appreciation of Hon. Olufade’s continued support, the Commandant of Command Day Secondary School, Mokola, Lt. Col. A.Y. Gukas, presented gifts to the chairman.
The event drew school officials, teaching staff, parents, students, and representatives of Ibadan North Local Government.
