The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12. Africans& Diaspora
According to a notice published on the commission’s recruitment portal, applications opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27.

INEC said the exercise is aimed at strengthening its workforce to enhance electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics in line with its constitutional responsibilities.

The commission stated that interested applicants are required to create an account on its recruitment portal, complete the online application form and upload the necessary credentials.

It stressed that the recruitment process is completely free, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders would be disqualified and may face prosecution.
Available positions
The vacancies are spread across three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
Applicants are required to possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and, where applicable, a master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
Candidates must also possess relevant professional certifications, including NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, depending on the position applied for, in addition to at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution.
They are also expected to present an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, alongside good knowledge of data management, record keeping and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT applications.
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07
Applicants must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution, with good computer knowledge, data management skills, and effective communication and organisational abilities.

INEC said applicants must satisfy all eligibility requirements for the position they intend to apply for and ensure that all information provided during the application process is accurate.

The commission noted that once a vacancy has been selected, it cannot be changed, adding that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
