Federal School of Surveying, Oyo Students Protest, Demand NELFUND Refunds, Improved Welfare

Students of the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, Oyo State, have embarked on a peaceful protest, blocking all major access roads and shutting the institution’s main gate over what they described as unresolved welfare and administrative issues.

‎

‎The protesting students accused the management of failing to refund their NELFUND tuition payments to those who had already paid their school fees before the Federal Government disbursed the loan funds.
‎
‎They also decried the poor state of the school environment, describing it as overgrown and poorly maintained. According to the students, the hostel facilities are in a deplorable condition, alleging that water from bathrooms on the upper floors leaks into rooms on the lower floors.

‎
‎The protesters further alleged that the institution makes hostel accommodation compulsory by requiring every student to pay hostel fees, regardless of whether they reside in the hostels or not.
‎

‎They also expressed dissatisfaction with the school’s health services, noting that the clinic operates only between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., instead of providing 24-hour medical care. They claimed the clinic is often without essential drugs, forcing sick students to seek treatment outside the campus.

‎
‎In addition, the students complained about the poor electricity supply, which they said has negatively affected learning and living conditions within the institution.
‎
‎The protesters are calling on the management to urgently address their grievances and improve students’ welfare. At the time of filing this report, the school management had not issued an official response to the allegations
