A concerned group has urged Agidigbo FM CEO and Accord Party governorship aspirant, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, to publicly clarify his alleged relationship with Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, alias “Surii Ilupeju,” after a police raid in Ibadan led to multiple arrests.

The call follows an Oyo State Police Command statement on an intelligence-led operation at Adio’s residence in Gbeku, Olodo, around 1:00 a.m.

According to the police, operatives stormed the location at about 1:00 a.m. based on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of five suspects identified as Ahmed Nafiu, 43; Olukunmi Olaniyi, 36; Femi Odeyinde, 53; Jelili Akinade, 50; and Muhideen Adio, 27.

Police further disclosed that a search of the premises resulted in the recovery of a pump-action gun, a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, eight live cartridges, a locally-made bulletproof vest, two bottles of suspected charm-induced substances, and other items considered incriminating.

The group alleged that Adio has been seen with Hamzat and reportedly provided security during some of his political events. It urged the Accord Party aspirant to address the allegations to clear public concerns and protect his reputation.

According to them, public clarification will also orient other politicians against using thugs or suspected criminals at political gatherings.

Meanwhile, the police said investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of those arrested and identify other members of the alleged syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, however, reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, and other violent crimes through intelligence-driven operations across the state.

He assured residents that security agencies would continue targeted raids on criminal hideouts and urged members of the public to provide credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

The Police Command also assured residents that all information provided by members of the public would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
