The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, on Thursday, emerged as the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general elections.
Agboworin emerged unopposed during the party’s primary election held at Mapo Hall, Oja’aba, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where delegates from the 12 wards across the federal constituency unanimously endorsed his candidacy for the another term in the National Assembly.
The exercise, which witnessed a large turnout of party faithful, political associates, community leaders, youths and women groups, was described by party officials as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the confidence reposed in the lawmaker by members of the party and constituents.
By securing the party’s ticket, Agboworin will be contesting for a third consecutive term in the House of Representatives under the platform of the APM.
Announcing the result of the exercise, the returning officer declared Agboworin duly elected as the party’s candidate, having satisfied all constitutional and electoral requirements of the party.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Agboworin appreciated delegates, party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the consensus arrangement as a demonstration of unity and shared commitment towards sustaining quality representation in the constituency.
He said the endorsement would further motivate him to continue delivering people-oriented representation and attracting developmental projects to the constituency.
“I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming show of love and confidence from our party leaders, delegates and the good people of Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency. This victory is not for me alone; it belongs to all our supporters and constituents who have stood by us over the years,” he said.
He also called on members of the party to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that collective efforts would be needed to secure victory for the party at all levels.
