Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable differences and unresolved internal concerns within the party.
The lawmaker, who represents Ibadan North Constituency II at the Oyo State House of Assembly, formally communicated his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 12, Ibadan North Local Government, Oyo State.
In the letter, Hon. Gabriel stated that his resignation takes immediate effect, explaining that the decision was reached after careful consideration and reflection on the current realities within the party.

According to him, the prevailing circumstances and internal developments within the PDP no longer align with his personal convictions and political aspirations, making it difficult for him to continue as a member of the party.

The resignation letter also contained a directive requesting the party leadership to remove his name and details from the PDP membership register and official website henceforth.

Despite his decision to exit the party, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, alongside party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful members of the PDP for the support and cooperation extended to him during his time in the party.
He acknowledged the relationships, political experiences, and opportunities he enjoyed while serving under the platform of the PDP, noting that he remains grateful to those who stood by him throughout his political journey.
The development has already sparked reactions within political circles across Oyo State, particularly in Ibadan North, where Hon. Gabriel is regarded as one of the influential political figures and grassroots mobilizers within the constituency.
Political observers believe his resignation may further deepen conversations around the growing wave of political realignments and internal dissatisfaction currently being witnessed within the PDP structure in the state.
Although the lawmaker did not reveal his next political destination, sources close to him disclosed that consultations with supporters and political associates are ongoing ahead of future political decisions.
His resignation adds to the increasing number of notable political figures who have recently distanced themselves from the PDP in Oyo State amid lingering concerns over the party’s internal stability and future direction.
