Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced former Commissioner for Finance under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The Oyo state Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Michael Ogunshina confirmed the development in an exclusive phone call on Wednesday night.
The development, which has stirred fresh conversations within the political circle of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the opposition camp, was said to have emerged during recent high-level consultations involving key stakeholders in the state.
Although the governor has yet to make any formal public declaration, Ogunshina confirmed the development.
“Yes, it is confirmed, the governor has announced him,” Ogunshina said.
