2027: Awoleye Pledges Construction of Senatorial Office, Correct Empowerment Imbalance for Ibarapa Zone

A leading aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat, Hon. Dada Awoleye, has unveiled a two-pronged campaign promise centred on institutional presence and regional equity.

This was as he vowed to construct a new senatorial office for the senatorial district to create direct and equal access to him and for effective coordination of empowerment resources.

He also promised to address what he described as longstanding imbalances affecting the Ibarapa axis of the district, lamenting neglect and abandonment by the current senator.

Awoleye made the pledge in a statement on Saturday, April 25, where he outlined his vision for a more accessible and responsive representation as Senator.

According to him, the proposed senatorial office would serve as a functional hub for legislative engagement, constituency services, and policy feedback, bridging the gap between elected officials and the grassroots.

He noted that constituents often struggle to access their representatives due to the absence of a well-structured and visible office within the district, a situation he said undermines accountability and limits citizen participation in governance.

“Representation must be seen and felt. A properly situated and equipped senatorial office will not only bring governance closer to the people but also institutionalise channels for addressing their needs in real time,” Awoleye said.

Beyond infrastructure, the aspirant placed strong emphasis on correcting what he termed a “developmental imbalance” in the distribution of projects and opportunities, particularly in Ibarapa land.

He argued that despite its contributions to the political and economic fabric of Oyo State, the area has not received commensurate attention in federal interventions and constituency projects.

Awoleye pledged to prioritise inclusive development by ensuring that Ibarapa communities benefit more equitably from federal presence, especially in areas such as road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

“Our district must move forward together and cohesively. No zone should feel left behind. Ibarapa deserves deliberate and sustained attention to unlock its full potential.”

The Oyo South Senatorial District, one of the most politically strategic zones in the state, comprises Ibadan and Ibarapa areas, and has witnessed growing calls for equitable distribution of development projects.
