This year birthday, 9th April, 2026, of the distinguished Senator (Dr) Monsurat Olajumoke Aduke Sunmonu attracted dignitaries like, HRM, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, The Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Hon Stanley Adedeji Odidiomo, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, ALGON Chairman, Hon Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, Hon Ezekiel Temitope OTOPE, Commissioners, State Political Appointees, Oyo State PDD Exco Members, Iyaloja Of Oyo, Members of Oyo State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, Captain of Industries, Community Leaders, The Obas & Chiefs from Oyo Town, Islam Clerics, Political Groups, Leaders of the Party across the four Local Governments of Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East & Oyo West Local Governments of the Constituency, friends and family at her residence in Oyo town, Kosobo, Oyo East Local Government, Oyo State.
To add more glamour to the colourful event, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde appeared at about 3.15pm with his entourage, Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, Bar. Bayo Lawal, Chief Basorun Sunday Ogunlade, Mogaji Abbass Oloko and Others to celebrate with the distinguished Senator Sunmonu.
For a suprise birthday gift, Governor Seyi Makinde made his goodwill message on the celebrant as follows:
Firstly, As quoted by His Excellency; ” I used to address her as my Distinguished Sister because of her moral values and an epitome of integrity.
As at 2019 prior to my Gubernatorial Election when she had already lost her own Second term election and when Political forces & Coalition groups were merging ahead of the general elections. Without any rigourous doubts, Senator Sunmonu was one of the first Set of People that accepted the confidence in me to Lead Oyo State and this has became history.
Despite being hospitalized in Abuja, she took away the drips in her hand and flew to Oyo State some days to the election to join me in the campaign and mobilization and I won the election. So, my distinguished, I thank you so much.
Secondly, when you need bitter truths or genuine words of advice on a policy or political decision, Just Consult Senator Monsurat Sunmonu because she always have a balanced sense of judgement without any fear or favour.
Thirdly, her international exposure and rich political experience both as the first female Speaker & first female Senator ever produced in Oyo State, can not be over emphasized.
The forth one is her courage and act of bravery in pursuing a goal, because once she is pursuing a goal, she will never get tired until the target is accomplished.
Lastly is her Spiritual commitment and show of deep love to her own country home”.
The Governor ended up his goodwill messages with melodious song to cheer up the celebrant to a group dance and cutting of the cake.
