Photo News: Tanker Carrying 60,000 litres of Petrol Falls, Spill Content in Iroko

According to the information reaching Heritage Echo News, a petroleum tanker carrying 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has fallen in Oyo State.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening, at Iroko town along Oyo/Ibadan Express way in Akinyele local government areas of Oyo State.

However, it was learnt that the Mack tanker with registered number GZA55OXA 60,000 litres swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushing out profusely.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform and Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident to our correspondence in a statement.

He said the emergency was reported exactly 17:54hrs on Sunday 19th October, 2025.

“On getting to the scene of the accident,it was a MACK trailer tanker with registered number GZA55OXA of 60,000 litres capacity loaded with premium motor spirit (PMS) swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushing out profusely.

“Our officers quickly swung into action by applying chemical foam compound to suppress flammability of the content and prevented it from catching fire from surrounding.

“The Firemen led by CFS Olayiwola swiftly responded to the distressed situation.

“No casualty was recorded and the accident was as a result of lost of control while the driver was trying to negotiate the road bend.

Akinwande further urged the road users to be conscious while driving and emphasized the importance of observing road safety tips in order to prevent occurrence of road accidents.
