The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), on Tuesday, described the zoning of the 2027 presidential ticket to the South by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a welcome development.

According to the two-term lawmaker, in a statement made available by his Media Group and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the zoning arrangement would sustain internal cohesion in the party, adding that “the zoning outcome is fair, balanced and reflects the collective will of the party.”

In a related development, Agboworin lauded the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing him as a force to reckon with in the PDP and Nigeria as a whole.

He said: “The zoning of the 2027 presidential ticket to the South is a welcome development. We will have to wait and see how this decision will affect the party’s fortunes in the 2027 elections.

“With this, I see our governor in Oyo State as a politician and force to reckon with in the party at both the state and national level.

“While some stakeholders see the move as a strategic opportunity for the party, others are concerned about its potential impact on the party’s fortunes.”

He added that the zoning arrangement could potentially position governor Makinde as a strong contender for the party’s presidential ticket, should the micro zoning decision favor the South-West.
