Oyo East Local Government Legislative Arms have commended the appointment of Senator Monsurat Sunmonu to the 2025 Zoning Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as a strategic and commendable decision by the party’s national leadership.
In a congratulatory statement released and made available to newsmen, the councilors lauded Senator Sunmonu’s political acumen, leadership experience, and long-standing commitment to equity and justice within the party structure.
They noted that her inclusion in the influential committee, which is tasked with determining the zoning formula for key party positions ahead of the 2025 National Convention, underscores the PDP’s recognition of her deep-rooted contributions and trusted leadership within the party.
“Senator Monsurat Sunmonu’s appointment is not only well-deserved but also timely. She has consistently shown an unwavering commitment to fairness and inclusive politics, qualities that are critical to the zoning committee’s work,” the councilors stated.
The councilors expressed confidence that Senator Sunmonu’s voice on the committee will reflect the aspirations of party members across Oyo State and the South West region at large. Senator Sunmonu, a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Senator representing Oyo Central between 2015-2019, is widely respected for her statesmanship, bridge-building efforts, and policy-driven approach to governance.
