In the coming week, the esteemed electorate of Ibadan North Federal Constituency will cast their ballots to determine their representative in the Federal House of Representatives, a decision precipitated by the shocking demise of Hon. Prince Olaide Adewale Akinremi (Jagaban), on July 14, 2024, who graced that office with exemplary leadership and representation.
Like other wellmeaning members of our great party, I extend my deepest sympathies to the constituency for this profound loss, and I acknowledge Hon. Jagaban’s distinguished tenure that enriched our party’s legacy.
This rerun election presents an opportunity to uphold his ideals, and I stand in solidarity with my fellow party members to ensure a seamless transition of excellence. It is with great pride that I lend my voice to this very important moment.
No doubt, Hon. Akinremi Jagaban was a paragon of constituency-focused leadership, a statesman whose tenure prioritised the upliftment of Ibadan North with unwavering dedication. His initiatives, which extend to infrastructure development, advancing education, and safeguarding the welfare of his constituents, reflected a commitment to their aspirations. He was a pillar of unity who bridged divides and championed the marginalised, earning the reverence of all who knew his work. Though his sudden departure has left a void, his legacy of service and passion endures as an inspiration to us within the APC to seek a successor who mirrors his noble vision and zeal for progress.
In the wake of this all, leadership vacuum is untenable, and I am convinced that Hon. Akinremi Olaide Jagaban would have endorsed a successor that embodies his ideological fervour and dedication. The APC has wisely presented Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy as our candidate for the rerun election, a choice, I believe, sits with the values Jagaban held dear; passion, commitment, and an unyielding work ethic.
