Goods as well as properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by an unexpected inferno that occurred in a variety store in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Friday at exactly 10:00pm, at Radex Variety Store, Bolanta Area,Oja- Igbo, Ogbomoso.
Our correspondence also learnt that the fire incident was also caused by a Power surge. Where goods and properties worth millions of naira were affected during the inferno.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande made the confirmation to the Heritage Echo newsroom on Saturday, August 9th, 2025. Noting that no life was lost in the incident.
He said; “On Friday 8th August, 2025 at exactly 22:37hrs an emergency was reported by the running caller and Mr Ibrahim to shop on fire at the above address.
“The Firemen led by PFS 11 Oluwaleye in charge quickly left for the scene and on getting to the scene of the incident.
“On getting there, we met a variety store that was engulfed by fire,we quickly swung into action and dosed the fire within a shortest period of time, and educated people on fire prevention in our community
No casualty was recorded but fire affected only one shop in the complex. The fire was as a result of a power surge.
